Six roadnames (D&RGW, CP, Conrail, GTW, MKT, and CNW) made up
Walthers initial 89' Enclosed Auto Carrier model release in 1992. The kit sold for $14.95 and was also available in
an Undecorated version.
Walthers offered three roadnumbers per roadname. The company's
roadnumber practice was to issue a pair of roadnumbers in the original dealer shipments and follow this with a third roadnumber
later.
A review of Walthers' 89' Enclosed Auto Carrier may be found in the June 1992 edition of Model
Railroader magazine. Jim Hediger reviews the bi-level auto rack and notes that the fully enclosed examples, similar
to the model, first operated in the mid-'70s.
