Walthers introduces the 36' Twin Hopper Kits in the fall of 1984.
Two variations (Offest and Ribbed Sides) were included in the original Walthers release in four roadnames (B&O, C&O,
RDG, and SOO). The kits sold for $4.95.
The World of HO Scale - 1985 Walthers Catalog & Reference Manual is the first appearance
in the annual publications from the company to include the 36' 50-ton Hoppers.
Two variations are found in the '85 catalog, the one detailed on this page with Offset Sides,
plus a Ribbed Side Twin Hopper.
The tooling for the 36' Twin Hoppers originated in the Train Miniature line in the 1970s.
