Walthers' 64' Plastic Pellet Hopper first appears in the 2002 HO
Reference Book. The car is stated by Walthers as being a National Steel Car 6245 prototype. The Plastic Pellet
Hopper's 2002 release was offering in single car ready to run examples selling for $15.98 each. Eight roads (HPPX, UTCS,
MLLX, CHVX, CGLS, NCIX, UNPX, NAHX), plus an Undecorated model made up the 2002 release.
Currently, Walthers shows none of the 64' Plastic Pellet Hoppers as in-stock items.
The 64' Plastic Pellet Hopper compliments Walthers' Plastic Pellet
Transfer (#933-3081) kit. The kit, featuring four silos, was introduced in 2002, same year as the first release
of the hoppers.
