The fall of 1984 brings the former Train Miniature HO-scale Stock
Car models to the Walthers line.
Walthers' 1985 catalog is the first annual publication to include the Stock Car models.
The Stock Car with Wood Ends was first available in the following roadnames: CN, CNW, GN, MKT, Southern, SP. An
Undecorated example was also in the original group. The kit retailed for $4.95.
Model Railroader's Trade Topics column in the February 1985 issue
of the magazine reviews these car kits. Jim Hediger details the three versions released by Walthers. Mr. Hediger
notes the car's Train Miniature lineage, "The kits use the original body parts, but the trucks new and all the lettering has
been redone." MR's review also notes the stock car is an, "AAR standard stockcar design adopted in 1930."
