Walthers introduces Ready-To-Run Six Packs of the Bethgon Coalporter
Gondolas for $59.98 in 1996. The only kit example was a single Undecorated model selling for $9.98.
The June 1996 Model Railroader magazine includes the Walthers Bethgon Coalporter among its
product reviews. Jeff Wilson's review states, "Produced since 1977, the prototype cars were originally made by Bethlehem
Steel Corp., then by Johnstown America Cop., which took over Bethlehem in 1989."
Walthers also introduced a coal load made to fit the Bethgon model.
The Bethgon Coal Loads came in pairs for $4.49 or a half dozen for $11.98.
