The February 1997 Model Railroader magazine includes a product review
for the Walthers Bay Window Caboose kit. Jim Hediger reviews the kit for Model Railroader and noted the Walthers
kit was, "a generic model that features welded stell construction typical of cars built by International Car Co. between the
mid-1950s and early 1970s.
The kit first sold for $14.98 and was produced in a dozen roadnames
(UP, SP, Chessie, BN, CNW, B&O, N&W, Southern, WP, Milwaukee, Erie-Lackawanna, and Cotton Belt), plus and Undecorated
example. Walthers design for the Bay Window provided the modeler with three variations to the side bay window section.
The variations provided different sizes and window patterns for the distinguishing feature.
