Walthers introduces the 36' Twin Hopper Kits in the fall of 1984.
Two variations (Offest and Ribbed Sides) were included in the original Walthers release in four roadnames (B&O, C&O,
RDG, and SOO). The kits sold for $4.95.
The World of HO Scale - 1985 Walthers Catalog & Reference Manual is the first appearance
in the annual publications from the company to include the 36' 50-ton Hoppers.
Two variations are found in the '85 catalog, the one detailed on this page with Ribbed
Sides, plus an Offset Side Twin Hopper.
The tooling for the 36' Twin Hoppers originated in the Train Miniature line in the 1970s.
