An early 1980s arrival to the AHM rolling stock collection
was this 50' Flat Car with Bridge Load. The example in my collection is a green Burlington Northern. The car carries Hong
Kong origin marks with CTC printed nearby. AHM rosters a handful of models in the early '80s that appear to match tooling
used by the short-lived Pemco line.
AHM examples have the CTC initials. The car is a typical 50' wood plank deck flat car. The Bridge Load is made of a pair
of cast orange beams held onto the car by a pair of cast brown fixtures that hold the beam and snap into the deck of the car.
My BN example is a white cast flat car that has been sprayed Cascade Green with white lettering. The trucks are talgo and
match the roller bearing type found on the Pemco releases. The AHM packaging is the typical cardboard blue and yellow box.
Information on the box includes the note that AHM is a subsidiary of General Hobbies Corporation. Hong Kong origin for this
model is also present on the box. The car is carried inside the box by a white plastic tray with clear cover. This is similar
to the inner packaging found on Pemco items. Beyond Pemco and AHM, I know of no other company to offer this Flat Car with
Bridge Load model.
