No. 6241
The AHM box label presented here states the Old Time Box Car was a product of Italy made by Rivarossi.
I have examined similar cars that carry Pocher Italy manufacturer and origin markings.
The example I examined of this AHM offering was a one piece shell with separate working sliding
doors running on separately applied railings above and below the door. The brakewheel apparatus is separate to the shell.
Two metal weights are located mounted inside vertically just inside from the ends of the car. The underframe has a wood
floor cast to the area exposed, when either door is open. The four underframe wires are separate and come up through the
floor of the car where they are secured. Couplers are truck mounted, but may be removed easily from the trucks and Kadee
type coupler pockets may be installed. I have examined cars with metal wheels, while others have had plastic wheels. My
example was a gray plastic shell that was painted orange for the California Fast Freight Line-Southern Pacific model. The
underframe was cast in black plastic and was not painted.
