Lionel's 1983 Collector Series included the Gold Coast Limited. The SD-40 dressed for Union Pacific (No. 6-8376) was the power for this collection. Lionel re-introduced the Operating Barrel Car operating accessory in UP. The catalog description states the Operating Barrel Car was resurrected from the 1950s to join the '80s line. A Union Pacific Double Door Box Car and Extended Vision Caboose were included in the Gold Coast Limited series, but the offerings were not exclusive to UP. A Green Bay & Western Reefer, Frisco Tank Car and Chicago & North Western Covered Hopper were also part of Lionel's 1983 Gold Coast Limited.
