Santa Fe is selected by Lionel as the first Famous American Railroad Series release in 1979. Lionel's Command Performance Spring 1979 flyer presents this collection, but the naming is different. In the flyer, the Santa Fe set is listed as the first Great American Railroad Series release, rather than Famous as became the final moniker for the five sets issued between 1979 and 1985.
