Mantua introduces its Collectibles series in 1996 with a group of engines limited to 2,500 models. This Collectibles release was a glossy black Pennsylvania Railroad 4-4-2 Atlantic type steam engine. The series of Mantua Collectibles included a wood base with section of HO-scale track and brass name plate.

Mantua's second generation (1978-2001) line introduced its 4-4-2 Atlantic steam engine in 1986. In 1988, Mantua offered a 4-4-2 Atlantic sold as Lindbergh Special (No. 358). This original 1988 offering appears to include less separately applied boiler detail parts and did not receive the glossy paint finish like the Mantua Collectibles offering.

Mantua produced a sixteen page full color 6 by 9 inch catalog listing this series of releases. The regular 1996 Mantua annual product catalog also included selections from this Mantua Collectibles series.
