The Atlantic 4-4-2 Locomotive is introduced by Mantua in 1986. Offered as a ready to run model, the Atlantic debuted with eight roadnames: Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Pennsylvania, New York Central, Baltimore & Ohio, Southern, Chicago & North Western, and Canadian Pacific. An Undecorated kit was also offered, as was standard practice during this time. The 1986 retail on the kit was $85. The ready to run decorated Atlantic model sold for $120.
