This set featured a red-and-silver Santa Fe Alco Century 430 at the point
of long string of cars. Rolling stock included a 50' Flat with 2 Trailers, AutoLoader with 6 Autos, Skid Flat with 3
Tractors, 40' Reefer, Pulpwood Car, 50' Plug Door Box Car, Hopper Car, and Caboose. The set also included a Truck Cab
and Truck Terminal and a Remote control Log Dump Set. The track plan built a 45" x 45" double-oval that included a pair
of Manual Switches and an Uncoupling section. The set was sold with and without a power pack.
The Booster Special

The Booster Special train set included a New York Central 0-4-0 Saddle
Tank Steam Loco; a 40' Flat Car with 3 Tractors; a Refrigerator Car; Caboose; and 12 sections of track to make a
36" circle. TYCO lists this set as available with a TYCOPak as No.7301 and without as No.7201.
The Diesel Flyer

The Diesel Flyer set featured an F-9A pulling a 50' Box Car;
a 40' Flat Car with 3-Culvert Pipes; a 40' Hopper Car; and a Caboose. The Diesel Flyer came with a dozen
sections of curved track, including a terminal rerailer section, that created a 36" circle layout.
The Dixie Belle

This set included a 4-6-0 Dixie Belle Locomotive and Tender, Box Car, Platform
Car, Water Car, Horse Car, and Combine. The track plan made a 36" x 45" oval. The catalog lists this set as being

The Golden West
(No. 7319 -A.T.&S.F.)
TYCO's Golden West train set includes the 4-6-0 Rogers Loco and
Tender decorated for Santa Fe (#233); a white 1890 Santa Fe Combine Coach (#372B) and a pair of brown Santa Fe 1890 Coaches
(#372A). The set also provided 14-sections of track to create a 36" x 45" oval track plan and power pack.
The Inter-City

For 1972, it appears TYCO has joined Amtrak as The Inter-City's roadnames
are reduced to only that of the National Association of Rail Passengers aka Amtrak. The set's contents mirrors that
of previous years with an F-9A pulling three Streamline Passenger Cars (Combine, Coach, and Observation). The set included
a 36" circle of brass track and was listed as available both with and without a power pack.
The Long Hauler
(No. 7314 -Union Pacific)
The 1972 edition of TYCO's Long Hauler train set was powered by a
Union Pacific GP-20 at the head of a consist that included a Crane Car and Boom Tender, 40' Reefer, Cable Reel Car, 40' Box
Car, Truck Carrier Car, Sealand Container Car, and Caboose. The set is listed as being sold with power pack only and
it included enough track to construct a 36" x 45" oval.
The Over & Under
(No.7311-Santa Fe)
The Over & Under was powered by a red-and-silver Santa Fe F-9A with
40' Gondola carrying Culvert Pipes, 50' Plug Door Box Car, Hopper Car, Skid Flat with Tractors, and Caboose. Like the
set's name says, the track plan built a 40" x 87" figure-8 with the help of the included 33-piece Bridge & Trestle Set.
The Pacific Freight

This set included a Lighted 4-6-2 Pacific Steam Loco and Tender, Pulpwood
Car, 50' Box Car, Log Transport Car, Skid Flat with Tractors, Hopper Car, and Caboose. TYCO sold the set with or
without a power pack, but either way it appears to have included a 36" x 45" oval track plan.
The Railroad Empire

The Royal Blue train set listed in the 1972-73 catalog included
a Lighted 4-6-2 Pacific Loco and Tender dressed in blue Baltimore & Ohio paint. A set of three Lighted Streamline
B&O Passenger Cars (Combine; Coach; Observation) were included, a 1-amp TYCOPak, plus 14-sections of track with rerailer
to make a 36" x 45" oval layout.
The Shifter Freight

The Shifter Action Freight

This set included an 0-4-0 Shifter Steam Loco and Tender, Crane Car and
Boom Tender, 40' Reefer, 50' Plug Door Box Car, Hopper Car, and Caboose. Extras in the set included TYCO's Operating
Crossing Gate and 17-piece Bridge & Trestle Set. The track plan was a 36" x 45" oval and a power pack was included.
The Super Over & Under

A Burlington GP-20 was the power for The Super Over & Under set.
Rolling stock included a 40' Gondola with Culvert Pipes, Skid Flat with Tractors, AutoLoader with Six Autos, 50' Plug Door
Box Car, and Caboose. The set's track plan built a 40" x 96" figure-8 and in addition to a Rerailer section, TYCO included
an Uncoupling section with control button. The set also included 24 Signs and Poles and the 33-piece Bridge & Trestle
Set. The set was listed as being one that could be purchased with or without a power pack.
The Super Chief

Though TYCO's Inter-City passenger train set was reduced to Amtrak-only
for '72, The Super Chief train set's power was still the red-and-silver Santa Fe F-9A and a non-powered
Santa Fe F-9B. A set of four red-and-silver Santa Fe cars are included in the set (Combine; 2 Coaches; and Observation).
The Super Chief came with enough track to create a 36" x 45" oval. The 1972-73 catalog lists this set as being sold
only with power pack.
The Switcher Freight

TYCO's 1972 catalog appearance for The Switcher Freight set has a red-and-silver
Santa Fe Diesel Switcher; a yellow Union Pacific 40' Gondola with 3-Pipes; a silver Swift 40' Billboard Reefer; and a
red Santa Fe streamline Caboose. The dozen sections of curved track made a 36" circle layout and a standard 1-amp Tyco-Pak.
The Twin Diesel Freight

The 1972-73 TYCO catalog states, "Take the popular F-9 Diesel 'A' unit with operating headlight and
a matching unpowered diesel 'A' unit, and add to them five authentic freight cars. That's a great recipe for real railroading
fun." The set is listed as being available with your choice of Santa Fe or Penn Central power. The rolling stock
included a Billboard Refrigerator Car, Skid Flat with 3 Tractors, 50' Plug Door Box Car, Pulpwood Car, and Caboose.
