This interesting double-plug door 60-foot box car from Pemco was new tooling for the company and may be unique to its short-lived
line. Though equipped with a straight sill, Santa Fe's BX-87 series cars appear similar to Pemco's model. The prototype
is a Pacific, Car & Foundry-built example from 1963 that Santa Fe owned 25 examples.

Similar to other Pemco freight cars, its 60-foot Box Car was produced in Hong Kong. As illustrated the underframe includes
Hong Kong origin marks and Pemco's name. The underframe includes an attached metal weight. The box car shell is provided
with a pair of rectangular slots on each side along the sill for securing the underframe. Trucks are roller bearing design
with plastic wheels and X2F talgo mounted couplers. The truck include a a two piece post that snaps into the underframe.
Separate parts on the shell include running boards and brakwheel. End to end, the model measures 60 scale feet in length.
A diagonal panel roof and riveted side panels, plus 8-foot insulated plug doors are included in the tooling of the shell.
Of the eight freight cars present in Pemco's one and only product catalog, this 60-foot Box Car is not found. My experience
however demonstrates this model is no more odd than most other Pemco cars.
