First found in the 1999 Walthers catalog is the sixth Trainline loco release, the HO-scale GP15-1 diesel. This model was
the first HO-scale plastic ready to run example of this 1970s EMD diesel. The model retailed for $49.98 and was offered originall
in seven roadnames: BN, CNW, UP, MP, Chessie, Conrail, and Frisco. Undecorated examples were also offered for both bodystyles:
Louvered and Inerital Air Filter designs. For its appearance in the 2000 Walthers catalog, the GP15-1 adds BNSF and CSX
roadnames. Additionally, all roadnames are provided a second roadnumber and a non-numbered version.
February 1999's Model Railroader includes a review of Walthers Trainline GP15-1 model. The model tested well in scale speed
performance with a range of 3 mph to 61 mph and had a drawbar pull of over 4 ounces. The model weighed in at 14.5 ounces,
according to MR's test.
