The first all-new tooling Trainline release was introduced in late 1995 and is the General Electric Dash 8-40B diesel. A pre-production
Amtrak Dash 8-40BW was displayed in July, 1995 at the NMRA's National Train Show held that year in Atlanta, Georgia.
Walthers Trainline HO-scale model was issued with two cab variations: standard and wide cab. The model included plastic
shell on metal frame with a dual flywheel drive. Though spartan on separately applied details, the model was attractive to
serious modelers and beginners alike. The 1995 retail was $59.98 for the powered loco. Walthers launches its Trainline Dash
8-40B with seven roads: Amtrak, Conrail, Santa Fe, LMX, Norfolk Southern, CSX, and Union Pacific. Undecorated standard and
wide cab examples were also cataloged.
Walthers brought this model back to market as a Mainline release in 2015. For its Mainline offering, standard DC and DCC
and SoundTraxx Tsunami sound versions were produced.
