This Fairbanks-Morse model would have been the follow up diesel to Train-Miniature's HO-scale Alco FA-1/FB-1 release.  To my knowledge, this offering never made it to production by Train-Miniature.  Pre-production or stand-in examples were displayed by the company at train shows in the early 1970s, but appear to be either hand-made, brass, or metal shells and not injection-molded plastic examples as the regular item would have been in the company's line.

A 1972 Train-Miniature listing calls for a October delivery of that same year for a $14.98 list priced FM 16-44 diesel.  The model was not released.

The first plastic HO-scale FM 16-44 model was Bachmann's Spectrum series release of the 1990s, followed by Atlas' offering.  Neither have any known relation to the never-produced Train-Miniature release.
