40-foot Plug Door Box Car
Frisco (Blue)
No. 3207

This interesting light blue Train-Miniature 40-foot plug door appears to have a very non-standard, non-prototypical scheme for a Frisco box car.  Research suggests Train-Miniature wasn't terribly far off the mark on this release.  Frisco did have a series of blue plug doors (#15500-15574) leased from Chicago Freight Car in 1969.  The cars worked in General Foods pool service assignment out of Memphis, Tennessee.  The prototype is actually a 50-foot car that lacked running boards.  You'll find the prototype pictured, plus many more Frisco cars in Morning Sun Books' "Frisco/Katy Color Guide to Freight Equipment" by Nick Molo.

This detail view of the side of the N&W example shows the typical level of quality for pad printing of the 1970s.  Note the somewhat smudgy edges and the coverage problem over the seams of the car in the "NW" markings.
