Above is a production run example of this Bachmann accessory. Bachmann produced
this caboose in Santa Fe livery, as well as Union Pacific. The red and yellow Santa Fe example is most common.
Bachmann's Union Pacific version is yellow with red lettering and black running boards and cupola roof.
The 1977 catalog includes a picture of a solid
red caboose, which is considered to be a pre-production example and does not reflect any production run offerings. The
1978 retail price for this item was $8.00. This item last appears in Bachmann's 1981 catalog.
Bachmann introduces the HO-Scale Operating Action Caboose with
Pick Up Platform in an expansion of the accessories line in 1977.
