The 1976 Bachmann catalog is the first to include a section for Action
Accessories. The first two releases in this line were the Bascule Bridge and the Operating Dual Crossing Gates.
The '76 retail was $9.00 for this item. The 1978 Bachmann catalogs provides a $7.00 retail for this same item.
This item is certainly no innovation for the HO-scale market. Operating crossing gates of this
type of design had been in product lines from Revell and TYCO, among others. What is unique to the Bachmann effort of
1976 is the inclusion of gates guarding both sides of the track. This was a first and made the Bachmann accessory an
improvement in design over other offerings.
