A 1973 addition to the Bachmann line was the Road Crossing accessory. The three-piece accessory had a $1.75 retail in '73. This was a non-working accessory and consisted of a pair of highway approach sections with base on each side for the crossing buck and crossing gate arm. A flat plastic insert was provided to be placed between the rails at the intersection. All pieces were molded of plastic and came decorated and ready to place on a train layout. The crossing bucks and gates were originally tooled and found in Bachmann's No. 2300 Crossing Signals and Gates offering.

Bachmann did refer to this as a two-piece item in certain catalogs, but to my knowledge it was always was made up of three pieces. A recent Bachmann catalog still shows this accessory available.
