Four roadnames was the rule for Atlas O scale model trains in the 1970s. The Gondola model was no exception and the roster
included: GN, N&W, Pennsy, and Reading. The model sold for $7 and was produced for Atlas by Roco in Austria. You'll find
the base tooling for this model in Atlas' current Trainman series of O scale releases. Trainman first offered the revised
52-foot Gondola model in 2005.

The Roco-made Gondola model weighs 6.45 ounces and does measure 52 scale feet in length. There is no metal weight provided
for this model. The underframe is a two-piece construction with the outer frame cast in metal-gray color with a wood planking
section snapped into the underframe. The underframe is cast in the metal-gray color used throughout most of this line of
1:48th model trains. Markings along the center beam of the underframe include the ATLAS name and MADE IN AUSTRIA. The underframe
snaps into the shell and both are made of plastic. Ladders and brak rigging on the sides and ends are separately attached
plastic castings. Our Great Northern sample was cast in a mineral red color. Lettering is white and the GN herald includes
both white and black pad printing.
