Action Accessory
Tracksters
1978  No.1303 Jeepster
1978  No.1304 Chevy Van
These lighted vehicles that operate on HO-scale track were a new addition to Bachmann's action accesories line in 1978.  Each car, the Jeepster and Chevy Van, carried a $6 retail price in '78.  The Jeepster would return in 1979, but would appear much different than the pre-production model shown in 1978; the Chevy Van was no so fortunate and would not be back after this one appearance.

Above is the 1978 catalog illustration for the Tracksters vehicles.  The 1978 Bachmann catalog was the first appearance for this line of vehicles that operate on HO-scale track.  Two Tracksters are found in '78, the Jeepster and the Chevy Van.  Neither example reflects what was produced in production runs for these items.

The 1979 catalog included production run examples for both Tracksters vehicles.  The van, which is listed as a Chevy in '78, returns in 1979 as a Ford.  The Ford Van carries the same, 1304, stock number that was originally given to the Chevy example.  The 1979 price tag for these lighted operating vehicles was $6.00.
