Though similar in appearance, Lionel HO offerings in the 40-foot Gondola
model include examples produced by Roco in Austria and Kader in Taiwan. The Roco Gondola models arrive first in 1974 and
include: Rio Grande, Chessie, Norfolk & Western, and Southern Pacific. The Kader model, which duplicates the design of the
Bachmann HO scale 40-foot Gondola model, included Rio Grande and Chessie roadnames. The two productions are very easily distinguished,
as the Kader is a one-piece shell and the Roco includes a separate underframe.
