TYCO's pre-production Old Dutcher Cleanser Hopper seen at the bottom of this page differs from regular run examples.  The red section on the prototype is larger than what is found on standard run examples and the reporting marks are found on the right side of the production models not found on the early catalog model.  Thanks to Tony Lucio for info regarding paint variations.

Early Center-Flow Hoppers

The 54-foot Center Flow Hopper carries the model number 358 and first appears in the 1972-73 catalog. There it is shown in only two roadnames, Morton Salt and Kellogg's.  The car remained a standard offering for TYCO for many years, available in many "billboard" names. Letter designations following the model number, 358, arrive in the 1975-76 catalog for each name. For example, adding an "A" makes the 358-A the Kellogg's car.
