Bridge & Trestle Set
Civil War Cannon
TYCO sold a pair of cannons (No.852) for forty-nine cents beginning
the same year the Blue and Gray Centennial Sets were added to the product line. Both Civil War train sets included their
own pair of cannons. Certainly the perfect addition to your pike to help deal with the pesky Rivet-Counters.
Coal Load
Though some critics may jokingly refer to many TYCO items as nothing
more than a box of rocks, this accessory entry is just that. New in the 1961 catalog, Coal Load (No.839) is a bag of
black ballast material selling for forty-nine cents.
Flat Car Load -1960
A new item according to the 1960 TYCO Catalog was the I Beam Girder
sold as Flat Car Load (No.T840). Designed to ride most likely in the 40' Gondola or Flat Car, this yellow beam sold
for thirty-nine cents when first offered in 1960.
Flat Car Load -1961
A new item in TYCO's '61 product line, but carrying the same stock
number as 1960's I-Beam Girder Flat Car Load is Plate Girder w/Skids Flat Car Load (No.840). It retails for forty-nine
cents in the 1961 catalog. The Skids (No.851) were also packed together in a half dozen as a separate TYCO item.
Gondola Load
Destined to be among the TYCO line for many years to come was the
set of three 8' Culvert Pipe sections. During the Red Box Era they could be purchased as a separate item, T831, selling
for just thirty-nine cents in 1960.
Operating Floodlight Car
Serving to light up the TYCO line for many years, the Operating
Floodlight Car (No.320) was available from the beginning of the '60s. The Pennsylvania Railroad example (No.320B)
stayed to join the BN and later Durango offerings in the Brown Box Era. TYCO also produced this item in Union Pacific
(No.320A) and Reading (No.320C). In 1960, the Floodlight Car carried a $4.98 retail.
Operating Hopper Car Gate Actuator
A forerunner to the Automatic Coal Unloading Trestle (No.861) was
this simple plastic strip. TYCO sold this item as Gate Actuator w/9" Track Section (No.15735) for seventy-five
cents or you could purchase just the white Gate Actuator (No.5736) alone for forty-nine cents.
Over And Under Pier Set
Consisting of fourteen graduating sized conrete appearing piers
and a flat bridge bed section, this was TYCO's original Bridge & Trestle Set. In 1960, this item carried stock number
T843 and sold for $3.95.
Piggyback Flat Car Set
Portable Rerailer
An interesting accessory is this thin strip of black plastic.
The Portable Rerailer (No.5667) is essentially the same as what is found on a 9" Re-Railer Track (No.15723) section.
This accessory simply allowed it to be placed on any straight section of track. The retail was forty-nine cents in 1961.
Skids
New to the 1961 catalog is this collection of six plastic cast supports
to brace loads in place on flat cars. The Skids (No.851) were also sold in pairs under the Plate Girder as an accessory
item (No.840). The half dozen Skids sold for forty-nine cents beginning in the 1961 TYCO catalog.
Snow Plow
According to the TYCO 1960 Catalog, this pilot mounted Snow Plow
(No.T832) was designed for use with TYCO's T209, T213 and T217 locos and sold for forty-nine cents. The T209 was
the Shifter 0-4-0 Steamer, while T213 was TYCO's Booster 0-4-0 Steamer. There is no T217 loco found during the
Red Box Era, but it was TYCO's Side Tank 0-6-0 Steamer sold during the 1950's.
Stake Panels
Made to fit the TYCO 40' Flat Car, this accessory item consisted
of a set of four panels and carried stock number T833 and sold for thirty-nine cents in 1960.
Stone Bridge
A very simple arch designed Stone Bridge was featured among TYCO's Accessories during the Red
Box Era. Carrying stock number T808 was the single track four-legged straight bridge. In 1960, the item retailed
for sixty-nine cents.
Truck and Trailer
(No.124)
Tunnel
(No.924)
TYCO's 1969-70 catalog refers to this item as "a realistic beauty." The decorated HO-scale
Tunnel sold for $1.49 in 1968-69 for its debut. TYCO states it may be used either on straight sections or 18"-radius
curves. It appears TYCO's catalog images may differ from what was actually sold for this item. It remains in TYCO's
catalogs through the conclusion of the Red Box Era in the early 1970s.

Uncoupling Ramp -NMRA Portable
TYCO's little bone-shaped plastic item had a very big stock number
in relation to its size, 15729. As cars passed over it going slowly, the Ramp would guide the points pointing downward
on an X2F coupler to open and thus uncouple. TYCO included the Ramp's NMRA approval in its description and it retailed
for forty-nine cents. This item was often part of the contents of numerous train sets over the years.
