Overland Models' Tower 55 GEVO diesel was produced by Ajin Precision in
Korea. Ajin is the same company that produces a number of brass model train releases for Overland Models. A good
background history piece on Ajin is found in the pages of Model Railroader's January 1992 edition, as Jim Kelly presents "Birth
of a Brass Locomotive" with a visit to Overland Models in Indiana and Ajin Precision in South Korea.
Plastic model trains from Ajin have been a rather limited collection. Stewart Hobbies VO-1000
switcher and Athearn's original offering of N-scale F59PHi diesels and 4-6-2 steam engines in HO-scale are among known Ajin
plastic-based model offerings sold in North America.
Overland Models has been associated with Ajin Precision of Seoul, South Korea since 1979. The
Tower 55 line was to be a series of high-end HO-scale models. Tower 55's output totalled one very fine General Electric
GEVO diesel. An SD70ACe had also been announced, but was not released by Tower 55 or T55.
