The Pemco Railway System HO-scale trains enjoys one of the shortest
lives of any model train product line in recent memory. Pemco stood for Precision Engineered Models
Company.
My investigation into the origin of Pemco finds that it was conceived in
the early '80s as a product line that would be aimed at the "toy train" R-T-R buyer, but made to a level somewhat higher than
the standard TYCO quality.
Pemco's line featured a number of offerings that were and continue to be
unique tool & die work in the HO-scale R-T-R(ready-to-run) marketplace. Down the left column, you'll find
a listing of the items in the Pemco line. Click on any item listed in this column and you'll be taken to a page providing
details and information regarding each product in the Pemco line.
There is only one known Pemco product catalog, which is undated, and contains
color images of most of what is known to exist under the Pemco name. Though undated, this catalog is known to be
from 1982.
Certain pieces of the Pemco line did get product reviews in some of the
major model railroading magazines, however I have never seen any ads for the Pemco line in these publications.
