The package for the box car lablels this model a "50' USRA Double Sheathed
Boxcar," while the catalog calls it a "Double Sheathed-Type Auto Boxcar."
I believe the 1998 catalog to be the first for the Authentic Railway Designs product line from Ertl.
That '98 catalog includes five roadnames (Boston & Maine; New York Central; Atlantic Coast Line; AT & SF; Chicago
& Northwestern), plus five roadnames (Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific; Chicago, Burlington & Quincy; Delaware,
Lackawanna & Western; Missouri Pacific; and Great Northern) listed as NEW. The two groups of five make up the ten
roadnames that Ertl would release for the Boxcar in this product line.
No retail prices are included in the Ertl Authenic Railway Designs catalogs, however Walthers did
carry these cars and they are included with a $30.50 price in the Walthers 1998 and 1999 catalogs.
