Among the earliest of Kato HO-scale releases under the company's own name, 1991 brought a Chessie
System SD40 in two roadnumbers: C&O #7551 and C&O #7557. Both numbers and the C&O ownership are accurate.

This Athearn SD40 was released as part of the company's Ready To Roll product line. The B&O
ownership and roadnumbers are accurate for Chessie.
All three of the major roads included in the Chessie System (B&O, C&O, and WM) did roster EMD's
SD40 diesel locomotive. The 1970s Chessie System SD40 group included 8 examples from the Baltimore & Ohio; 63 from the C&O;
and a dozen SD40s from the Western Maryland. Chessie numbering put the SD40 model in the 7500-series. Below is an image
