Bachmann's introduction of its N-scale line does not include any steam engines. The 1969 catalog brings two steam engines: 0-4-0 Switcher and 4-8-4 Santa Fe. The 4-8-4 is incorrectly identified in 1969 as a "Santa Fe" type steam engine. For 1970, the model is listed correctly as a "Northern" type steamer. The model's original retail is $29.95 and two roadnames (ATSF and UP) are present. The 1969-1972 catalog illustration appears to be a brass model. The actual N-scale production model does not appear until the 1973 catalog.
