(No.16111) -w/Caboose
AHM's early 1980s catalogs include the Santa Fe SW-1, but the model is shown wearing the road's
freight warbonnet scheme and not the earlier pre-1972 freight scheme displayed first above.

(No.16151) -w/Brakeman Holding Lighted Lantern and Caboose
Believed to be unique to AHM's SW-1 offerings is the loco with Brakeman Holding Lighted Lantern. I
wasn't initially convinced that the large red bulb was the as-delivered appearance for this switcher, but it does come up
frequently in this condition.

Southern Pacific
(No.5014G)
(No.5014-07)
(No.5016-05)
(No.16152) -w/Brakeman Holding Lighted Lantern and Caboose
AHM's HO-scale EMD SW-1 Switcher arrives in 1976 and a review of
it may be found in the September 1976 RAILROAD MODEL CRAFTSMAN magazine. The reviewer states, when compared to blueprints,
the AHM SW-1 is oversized in nearly every direction.
By the early '80s, AHM began offering a revised SW-1 that featured a brakeman figure standing
out on the unit's front porch area. The brakeman holds a lighted lantern. AHM's catalog include only the Southern
Railway and Southern Pacific examples for this variation.
A close relative of the AHM SW-1 has been offered over the years by Model Power.
